Nigerian Burna Boy wins Grammy Award for Best Global Album

Nigerian afrobeat star, Burna Boy has won the 63rd Grammy Award nod for best ‘Best Global Album’.

He won with his ‘Twice as Tall’ album.

Burna Boy said In his acceptance speech: “Africa is in the house… This is a big win for my generation of Africans all over the world. This should be a lesson to everyone that no matter where you are and no matter what you plan to do, you can achieve it, no matter where you from. You are a king. Look at me now. Grammy Award-winning Burna Boy”

Burna Boy's 'Twice as Tall' wins 'Best Global Music' Award At The 63rd Grammys award

This is Burna Boy’s second Grammy nomination. His album, ‘Twice as Tall’ was nominated for the newly named ‘Global Music’ award. Last year, his album ‘African Giant’ was nominated in the same category that was previously known as ‘World Album’.

He was in the same category with top musicians from Antibalas, Bebel Gilberto, Anoushka Shankar and Tinariwen.

Burna Boy won the Best Global Music Album category while Wizkid won the Best Music Video for his song with Beyoncé; Brown Skin Girl, from Lion King: The Gift album.

Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy was also a winner on the song.

The Best Music Video award is given to the artist, video director and video producer.
